Danger: Using Web 2.0 at 40

I've always thought of myself as a techie. I covet the new gadgets and try to keep up with the latest developments. But I have to admit that lately I can't keep up with the Web 2.0 world. There are so many choices and no standards. Open source and social networking (whether micro or macro) are starting to junk up my bookmarks (oh yeah and there is site to sort those too). Is this what happened to my mother when e-mail first hit the scene? I barely keep up with Facebook let alone with the Twitter, Jott and Ning's out in the cloud.

OK, yes it's true I love my iPhone but where do I draw the line? I am excited about the Loopt technology coming with the 3G iPhone. I've always thought it would be great to know if you're at the same concert or airport with someone you know. When will I know that the world has passed me by?

Mr. S - Letter People

Another great night in LA! We went to Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetary tonight- one of our favorite summer haunts. The movie was a lot of fun, The Man Who Knew Too Much with Jimmy Stewart and Doris Day. The DJ is awesome and before the movie he played this song I thought was really cool.

When I get home I look up the song and it gets even better! Come to find out that the song is from a 70's children's show. I've been mesmerized all night!!!

6th inning stretch?

On Sunday I flew back to LA and we drove straight to Dodger Stadium in an attempt to salvage what remained of the weekend. Alas, LA tested our resolve and true Angelino status with a 95 degree heatwave. We tried to stick it out but I couldn't even follow the game it was so hot. The tickets supported two AIDS charities and we got access to the All You Can Eat Pavilion. Now I understand how they get (bribe) people to sit in the bleachers but who wants a Dodger Dog when you're melting?

Indy - Gem of the Midwest?

In my line of work I've been fortunate enough to visit almost every major U.S. city. Last weekend's trip was my first to Indianapolis and I'll admit I was surprised. What a great little town! The city had some excellent public art and monuments. I wish I wasn't so tired from working because they had a very cool place to rent a Segway and I wanted to take a lot more photos. Next time.

Si, me gusta!

This week I started taking Spanish classes twice a week at Berlitz. I'm so excited to be learning Spanish and thinking about all the great places Ruel and I will go including my favorite of all, Barcelona. OK, yes, castellano is the dialect in that part of Spain but we digress. The class is taught in complete immersion and I'm enjoying being forced to think in context and practice speaking. One of these days I want us to move to Argentina for a year and live the ex-pat life with Ruel.
