Clambake

Having spents some of the best summers of my life on the East Coast, in July/August I get a craving to grab a mallet and crack some crab. We tried out The Crab Pot for my birthday the other night and enjoyed a CA rendition of clambake. It was nice to dig in and get dirty.
I still miss those warm humid afternoons at the shore, drinking malibu & oj, playing euchre, swimming in the waves, checking out the boardwalk and just spending the night away talking about our life to come with friends.

Go Dodgers!

I love Los Angeles. You never know what will happen. I was at my dentist getting a filling replaced when he offered two tickets for tonight's Dodger game. He is the team dentist. Next thing I know Ruel and I are behind 3rd base watching the Dodgers beat the Washington Nationals 5-4.

Sizzling birthday

Ruel took me to a great dinner for my 39th b-day. Photo taken and sent to the blog with my new iPhone. I'm a lucky guy more than anything because Ruel and I have a lot of fun together.

Summertime and the living is easy

After spending a week scouting Tampa, Raleigh and San Diego for work, I really appreciate why I live in Los Angeles. It was perfect to come home and head out to the Hollywood Bowl to see Diana Krall. I don't know what I enjoyed more: the music, the people, the picnic, or the crickets. We sat up in the cheap seats where we could spread out and enjoy ourselves. It's the best way to relax and enjoy yourself at the bowl. I may enjoy the culture but I'm still a blue collar guy.

Just a patch of dirt

Most weekends we try to stop by the Farmer's Market in Sunset Junction to pick up some fresh fruit or vegetables. I can not live without fresh fruit. I was spoiled as a kid living where I could go outside and just pick a peach, apple, strawberry, fresh mint, spinach, tomotoes, cherries, zuchinni, corn, rasberries, plums, apricots, eggplant, onions, etc. when I wanted. My mom used to hand me a bowl and say go pick a salad.

Last weekend at the market I discoved the Kyoho Grape. It's a Japanese grape that was cultivated to taste just like a Concord grape only without the seeds and bigger. Imagine pure joy exploding in your mouth. One of my favorite things to do is to freeze grapes and eat them like mini popsicles.

It makes me so excited for the day that we buy a new house where we'll hopefully be able to grow some fruit and veg.

Logo - The Gay Debate

While there were no major revelations at tonight's debate focussed on the gay community, I still felt a lot of emotion watching presidential candidates not only addressing our community but courting their vote.

Melissa Etheridge did a great job trying to ask questions that the average person would care about. I was a little frustrated that Joe Solmonese from HRC was so unabashedly pro-Hillary. I actually liked what Hillary had to say but if HRC is supposed to represent our community I think he needs to not kiss her ass so much.

Of course I liked what Barak had to say. He was the first one to accept the invitation to the debate and he noted that he talks about gay rights in every forum not just when talking to our community.

Hillary seemed most at ease and though I have reservations about her being "back to the same old politics" she actually gained a few points with me by projecting more sincerity than I've ever seen from her. I used to like Bill Richardson and his experience but he totally fucked up tonight. I used to think he'd be a good VP but he's off my list.

Kelly Rocks!

I know this has been out for a LONG time and I meant to blog about it a few months back but it fucking cracks me up. My favorite part is the mom and dad dancing with the party hats on their head. The creater is on a new VH1 show called, "I Hate My 30's". I am such a mo.
